APEX is sponsored by the Global Electronics Association in Anaheim, CA in March 2026.
RBB spoke with Claire Saunders of WNIE about AI, the value of industry connections, and what's new at RBB at APEX in Anaheim, CA in March 2026. Watch now:
Claire Saunders: Hi, good afternoon. It's Claire Saunders from What's New Electronics at IPC Apex and I've been joined by Carrie from RBB. How are you?
Carrie Guenther: Hello. Thank you so much for having me. I'm great.
Claire: It's an absolute pleasure. It's lovely to see you again.
Carrie: You too. You too. Always good to see you.
Claire: Thank you very much. And how's things going for you? You're a visitor of the show. What do you see? What's exciting out there?
Carrie: We just love to come and see all the new things that are happening. So many exciting developments in equipment and processes and software that really incorporate all of the new things that are happening in our industry. All of the AI, all of the new technology. It's just very exciting to see where the industry is going.
Claire: Okay. And you mentioned AI. I've heard that a few times. Um, so um, how are you seeing that affecting industry? The positives about it, you know, what are you seeing out of it?
Carrie: Well, there's innovations everywhere that are really going to help us move forward as an industry, move forward as companies, and be able to streamline our processes. To do more with less, but not by less people, but more productivity. We're able to accomplish more with what we're given and with what we're able to do. Equipment that is able to speed up those processes and allow us to serve more customers better, faster instead of the way we've always done things.
Claire: Yeah, of course. And you mentioned not necessarily replacing people or you know changing the that but just making everything a little bit smarter, a little bit wiser, allowing us to you know basically work smarter and get over the issues that are happening. So, um, are you seeing it in just equipment and machinery or in software and everything else?
Carrie: Oh, it's everywhere. It's in software to help us quote. It's in software to help our engineering team get things ready to build. It's in machines that help us develop new ways to do things beyond what we've always done. Innovations in hand placement and in machine placement. Being able to make everything smarter.
Claire: Okay. Great stuff. What's happening with your business? You know, what are you guys seeing? What are the next advancements or developments for you?
Carrie: Well, one of our core values is always better. And that's something that we always are striving to see what we can do to help serve our customers better. We are in the process of becoming AS9100 certified, which will allow us to serve a new segment of customers, but also really make our processes better. Make the things that we do more exact, more precise. Check out more documentation, dotting the eyes and crossing the tees, you know, being able to really do things better for our customers and serve them even better than ever.
Claire: Yeah. And learning from your customers is really important. You know, you know, it's all part of again a process, you know, that we're learning to deal with because that allows you to have the next step in your development as a business. So, like you said, that's part of your key sort of pillars in your business.
Carrie: Yes. Yeah. We do whatever we can to get our customers what they need when they need it. And I think that's key to being able to have the tools in place to allow us to respond to their demand, respond to some change that might happen in their business, so we're able to do whatever we can to get them what they need.
Claire: Yeah. All right. Great stuff. And I guess you're here for another couple of days. So over and above AI, anything else that's going to be sort of a key focus for you?
Carrie: Oh, we always have a shopping list. You know, we always have things that we that we're looking out for to make our shop better, to make our customer experience better. We've seen a few of those things so far, but there's a few others that we still need to check out and have a lot of time to do it. Plus, just connecting with all the people that you come to know and love in the industry that are just, colleagues that become friends. I always look forward to that as well.
Claire: Yeah. And not only colleagues that become friends, they're also people that help you with that process and that journey to improve.
Carrie: Yes. Because you know you can trust them and you know that they're going to not steer you wrong and be able to help you really make the good connections you need to make.
Claire: That's fantastic. Great stuff. Well, I wish you the very successful rest of your show. It's great to see you as always.
Carrie: Thank you. Always good to see you.
Claire: And when we see you next time, you'll have that certification and you'll be able to tell us about the next thing you're planning.
Carrie: I know. Yes. It's always moving on to the next better thing. It's wonderful.
Claire: Absolutely. Fantastic. Well, thank you very much, Carrie. See you soon.
Carrie: Thanks, Claire.
Claire: Thank you. Cheers.
