RBB employs a number of different machine types throughout our facility and this video highlights one in particular–an automated coating machine for electronic assemblies and PCBs. Protective coatings are crucial for PCBs. They protect the circuit boards from things like moisture, dirt, dust, vibration, and other contaminants that would interfere with its functionality. We’re testing out the motion right now for our coating machine, just going through the exercise, making sure everything is functioning before we would actually set up our coating of the boards. The types of boards we’re coating are usually going into an environment that may have some high-moisture or dirt; so the coating actually protects the circuitry from mold, moisture and even other contaminants that may cause things to short out. We have different coatings for different applications.
One of the benefits of working with RBB is our ability to offer full solutions for a variety of electronic assembly and custom control panel needs. Part of that capability is our custom encapsulation and in-house coating services. For some electronics, durability is a must. The larger end product might be regularly used outdoors, or have the potential to come into contact with contaminants or moisture, for example. Or the function of the PCB may be extremely complex or delicate, to the point where small changes in its environment could affect it.
Coatings and encapsulation are an excellent way to protect PCBs and electronic assemblies, preserving their functionality and preventing premature wear and failure.
